Local agency decorates office with... bras!
Well, that’s exactly what you’ll see if you venture past the LJ Hooker Cessnock|Kurri Kurri office on Vincent Street.
It’s all part of the offices’ fundraising and awareness efforts in October for the Cancer Councils Pink Ribbon Foundation; an organisation that aims to raise awareness about breast and gynecological cancers, as well as raise funds for prevention programs, support services, and vital cancer research.
The office is involved in the #pimpmybra initiative that encourages individuals to decorate a bra and donate it to the cause. So far in October the office have had 18 bras donated, making quite a sight to see!
Event organiser and LJ Hooker Cessnock|Kurri Kurri Manager, Mellissa Gibson said each year the #pimpmybra initiative brought great awareness to the local community about the risk of women’s cancers.
“It becomes a talking point amongst community members and those who pass our offices, it’s a really fun and bright way to bring awareness to a very serious issue,” she said.
“Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women in Australia and the second most common cancer to cause death in women, after lung cancer.”
If you would like to get involved donate your own bra for just $5 and go into the prize draw to win a pack worth $50.
“I’d like to thank everyone who has so far supported the #pimpmybra initiative and I encourage everyone to come past our office and have a look at the artwork and even donate their own decorated bra,” Ms Gibson said.
